REDS

Reds, the historical epic written, produced, and directed by Warren Beatty, follows the life of John Reed as it intertwines with Louise Bryant , the Russian Revolution, and other historical characters. Featuring Warren Beatty as John Reed and Diane Keaton as Louise Bryant. Also, including Jack Nicholson as Eugene O'Neil and Maureen Stapleton as Emma Goldman. It was nominated for twelve Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Original Screenplay, and more. The movie only won three awards; however, Best Director, Best Cinematography, and Best Supporting Actress. The movie begins in 1917, in Portland, where Bryant and Reed meet. Almost immediately the scene changes to New York, as Bryant moves to live with Reed there. They begin a love affair, but Bryant never really fits in or makes friends of her own. They are both journalists and Reed is actively involved with communism. He is so involved with his work that he did not spend enough time with Bryant to make her feel loved. Eventually, while Reed is away, Bryant begins a love affair with a friend, great American playwright Eugene O'Neil. This lasts through Reeds absence, but when he returns he proposes to her and they get married.


Communists believe that the world has enough wealth to provide for everyone's mortgages and other financial issues that interfere with life. O'Neil discovers the marriage and is extremely angry with Bryant. He was born in a New York hotel in 1888. They return to the US, and decide to give their marriage another chance while they write their separate books dealing with the revolution. During her trek, Reed gets released to Russia, and she gets there to late. After the death of Reed, she married again, but it was not a successful . John Reed was born in Portland, Oregon, on October 22, 1887. The Military Revolutionary Committee seized the Winter Palace where the present government was in session. It also must include the power to control your own life.
