Death Penalty

Throughout history, governments have struggled with the concept of preventing crime. One of the most obvious ways to prevent crime is by eliminating the criminals through capital punishment. In our society, capital punishment (the death penalty) has been legal since 1976. Since then, it has been proven not effective. It has been shown not to decrease murder rates, there are too many innocent people both falsely placed on death row as well as executed, and an alternative through education is easily applicable. For these reasons, the death penalty is not necessary, and can be eliminated through understanding it's weak points, and modifying this civilization's approach to crime.
