             Are the current laws on anabolic steroid use valid? The issue was officially decided a decade ago with the Anabolic Steroid Control Act of 1990. Anabolic steroid users were said to have an unfair advantage in competition sports. In retrospect, banning the usage of steroids just limited the athlete's ability to achieve. Many supplements are legal and accepted in competition sports. Why should anabolic steroids be treated differently? Steroids are more effective supplements and should become the standard supplement for all athletes in competition sports.
             Professional sports currently allow athletes to utilize supplements to advance their performance. Creatine Monohydrate is one of the most popular chemical supplements utilized by athletes today. Creatine Monohydrate is used to increase water retention in muscle fiber as well as advance muscle tissue hypertrophy. Dianabol is a currently illegal steroid supplement that performs the same actions as Creatine Monohydrate. The difference between Creatine Monohydrate and Dianabol is that Creatine Monohydrate takes months to see results and Dianabol takes weeks. That is the reason that all professional sports and the United States Federal Government banned steroids. A substance is accepted for usage in professional sports even when it is shown to give them a slight advantage; when a substance shows true effectiveness then it is outlawed for use. A prime example of this is the substance Androstenedione. This substance is a precursor to Testosterone. When taken orally the liver processes the substance and changes it from Androstenedione into Testosterone. This substance is legal and accepted in all major sports except professional baseball. In 1998, baseball player Mark McGwire made headlines by hitting 70 home runs in one season, shattering the standing record.
