How does it feel to be you?
Audience: My audience is the readers of "Readers Digest."Purpose: To help the audience understand that we all feel the desire to be something other than what we are.Thesis: No one is immune to the battle of feelings and emotions that we as humans struggle with, not even Superman.Message: "Superman" shows that mankind will never stop dreaming nor will we cease with the desire be something that we are not-even after we have realized our dreams and become Superman.I'm more than a bird...I'm more than a plane More than some pretty face beside a train It may sound absurd...but don't be naive Even Heroes have the right to bleed I may be disturbed...but won't you concede Even Heroes have the right to dream It's all right...You can all sleep sound tonight
Starting off with the words "I can't stand to fly. Some of Odrasik's friends lend him a hand from time to time filling positions in the band when he needs help. " Ondrasik was taught by his mother from age two to play the piano. I want to break out of this prison of who I am; crack the clay mold that surrounds me and reach up with long arms like tree branches to feel the warm sun and cool breeze as they caress the leaves on my fingers. " In a society that measures him for what they see on the outside: a handsome and invincible man whose sole purpose is to serve and protect, Superman is struggling to define himself. It feels unnatural to be riding on the breeze with clouds drifting between his knees. There will always be an immense gap between himself and the rest of us. It is possible that depression has made The Man of Steel feel so unhappy that he can't bring himself to fly; an action that is like second nature to him. Throughout his education he remained passionate towards his music, even changing majors so that that he could spend more time developing his talents rather than studies, and eventually graduated from UCLA with a Bachelor's degree in applied mathematics (Five For Fighting: Bio). They sound absurd, maybe even foolish to the listener, but then he stands his ground. There have times in my life that I feel trapped by who I am. Five for Fighting is new to the spotlight with just one hit single, "Superman" and one album America Town.
