A Doll House

A new play has come to town called A Doll House. It is written by a man named
Henrik Ibsen. I believe this play is wonderful, it's portrayal of how a wife and mother
should behave in a household is right on point. It shows how a women will do whatever
is needed to keep her husband safe from harm, even if it means to drag her self threw the
In the drama "Doll House," the main character named Nora is a woman who has
gone through life being treated as if she were a "doll." She is equivalent to a doll because
she is never to be heard from except when spoken to, or when asked to entertain her
husband Torvald. As the story progresses, Ibsen creates a climax in the theme when
Torvald finds out that Nora forged her father's name on a document to acquire money for
a trip to Italy. This trip to Italy was necessary in order to save his life. At this point, Nora
receives a miracle she has not been looking forward to. The miracle turned out to be a
test in which she finds out that their storybook love is not as strong to Torvald as she had
visualized and hoped for. Nora's eyes open for what appears to be the first time in her
life, and she makes the decision to leave her life and family in pursuit for a new
Another significant role in this play, is the role performed by Krogstad. Krogstad
is Torvald's childhood friend and is now working under him at the bank. Krogstad is the
individual who gave Nora the loan for the trip to Italy. In the first act he comes to Nora
and asks her to make sure his job is secure at the bank since Torvald is taking position as
manager. Torvald is going to dismiss Krogstad because he despises him for his past of
inappropriate acts of forgery, which will then give Mrs. Linde a position in the bank.
Krogstad in act three comes to Nora after getting his letter of dismissal and tells her that
he has written a letter telling Torvald everything.
