A new play has come to town called A Doll House. It is written by a man namedHenrik Ibsen. I believe this play is wonderful, it's portrayal of how a wife and mothershould behave in a household is right on point. It shows how a women will do whateveris needed to keep her husband safe from harm, even if it means to drag her self threw the In the drama "Doll House," the main character named Nora is a woman who hasgone through life being treated as if she were a "doll." She is equivalent to a doll becauseshe is never to be heard from except when spoken to, or when asked to entertain herhusband Torvald. As the story progresses, Ibsen creates a climax in the theme whenTorvald finds out that Nora forged her father's name on a document to acquire money fora trip to Italy. In the last act Noradoes a remarkable thing, she changes her character a decides it is time to leave for shesees that Torvald doesn't love her, he just likes what she is to him: a mindless doll. Nora's character screams out to women and men alike that making sacrifices onlyhave merit if the other person would appreciate the sacrifice. Being that Nora has no influence in the house she can not get into the locked boxto retrieve the letter and will wait until Torvald reads it. When Nora realizes thatNils Krogstad has authority over her for lending her the money for the trip she believesthe worst is going to happen if she does not carry out his request. Nora's eyes open for what appears to be the first time in herlife, and she makes the decision to leave her life and family in pursuit for a newbeginning. Nora resolves in the end to respect herself, the way herhusband never did. Torvald is going to dismiss Krogstad because he despises him for his past ofinappropriate acts of forgery, which will then give Mrs. This scene shows a huge role reversal showing Torvald begging her to stay. Krogstad in act three comes to Nora after getting his letter of dismissal and tells her thathe has written a letter telling Torvald everything. e turned out to be atest in which she finds out that their storybook love is not as strong to Torvald as she hadvisualized and hoped for. In the first act he comes to Noraand asks her to make sure his job is secure at the bank since Torvald is taking position asmanager. This was a wonderful play in that it shows that women can be strong andindependent. I believe this play shows women of all ages that they are first and foremost humanbeings.
