Vinegar's Effects on Plants
Vinegar is a sour liquid made by fermenting cider, wine, etc. and its used as a condiment and preservative. It's usually used for food but what will happen when used on a plant? Plants need water, nutrients, and light from the sun to grow into a healthy strong plant. Water is used so that the nutrients can be carried throughout the plant's roots, stems, and leaves. Nutrients help plants grow healthy and faster. But also mixed with nutrients are some harmful substances that can slow down the growth of a plant and also harm it. We use vinegar in many ways one is to preserve food. Vinegar also contains acid that can or cannot harm the plants. It's believed the plants are adapted to acid because there're acid in the rain. But will the acid in vinegar help plants or not? Will vinegar help plants since they help us preserve food or will it be categorized as a harmful substance to the plants? Will vinegar effect the plants in anyway? Specifically, would it stunt the plants' height? Plants receive liquids and many other nutrients from the so
This also happens to the third plant that has 10ml of vinegar. The one that's watered with 5ml of water and 5ml of vinegar is weird because the growth will be short one day then longer the other. Data Analysis: The result shows that plants that is watered with vinegar does effect it's growth (length). We do this experiment to see if the plant will benefit with the extra ingredients in the vinegar or be harmed by it. Results: The plant that is watered with 10ml of water is growing steady and have no effect what so ever. At the end, we are still curious about why mold formed on the third plant while the second plant didn't have any mold. On the second and third plant, the growth seem to go up then down and then up again. Plant radish seeds into the soil disk that's already in a container that's labeled. It's very odd because the one that's watered with 5ml vinegar doesn't have any of those traits. We thought that the mold grew because the plant died but then the question is how come the mold didn't form on the second plant? Because that plant is died too. We think that if you add vinegar to a plant it will hazardous to the plant's health. Water all THREE plants with 10ml of water. Prediction: If vinegar does reduce the plant's growth then the plants that received the vinegar will show it's reduced result.
