cloning
Today, humankind lives in a world of technology, technology that is rapidly advancing and presenting more ways to improve life. The cloning of animals and humans are part of this technology, parts which can ultimately lead to the reassurance and pro-longing of life as we now know it. All together, cloning has its unfavorable properties as well as its righteous and benevolent properties. The first mammal to ever be successfully produced, through the means of cloning, was the infamous female lamb known as "Dolly". That very success would spark many of those inferior and commendable properties to be known all over the world, especially in the everlasting debate over that of human cloning. Cloning, sparingly, is a popular topic in debate by thousands of people all over the world. People, not neutral on the subject, perceive the art of cloning as either a good or bad scientific exploration. People have many religious views as well as many scientific views on cloning. Most of the religious views are based on the fact that humans are beginning to play the role of God. "Many of us feel wary of cloning for this reason; yet some theologians hold that 'playing God' is exactly what God expects us to do. Huma
To be infertile means that your body no longer produces sperm or eggs required to reproduce a baby. "As many as 40 to 50% of the eggs of women under age forty have one chromosome too many or one too few"(Kolata 238). Maybe not humans directly as in full grown humans free to roam as they wish, but at least the feature's humans possess. Animals of all kinds have been going extinct since the beginning of time. People who are pro-life believe that cloning research possesses too many consequences which result in a short and useless human life. This research can be developed into lifesaving techniques of humans and of animals. The methods of cloning research, such as stem cell research, arise moral concern and question, but perhaps the creator of Dolly himself said it best, "It remains to be seen how methods of cloning will be used and how they will be accepted"(Wilmut). Through human cloning, however, embryos can be created from specific cells taken from the adult. Scientists in the United States have already cloned embryos from willing donators and performed what is called stem cell research on those embryos causing them to die, but for good reason. Many people say that we should not try to interfere with nature and that is acceptable, except for the fact that we humans modify our environment with everyday actions. Human cloning can create a rather simple solution to this on going dilemma. Scientists can examine the fertilized egg and determine whether or not the child carries any disease prone or defective chromosomes. Cloning these snakes will eliminate the possibility of a person being bitten while capturing them. Surely, cloning has its ups and downs, but in the end, it will ultimately have just its ups. Infertility is a common problem among men and women today.
