Complience is a bad kind of conformity because it involves obedience but not acceptance. As XX says that ''The important principle is not whether conformity or deviance is good or bad but, rather, what conformity or deviance is good or bad. For instance, a jury cannot make a decision without conformity of majority of members. In this kind of conformity conformist believes that it is true to conform. It is normal when it is kept balanced. XX claims that conformists have no minds of their own and they merely succumb to the will of some unnamed majority (XX,185). How could great majority of German people accepted Hitler's ideas and supported him? This fault in history caused by social impact and pressure to conform. This is an obligatory result of respect to human as respect to democracy. Therfore it is easy to commit crimes in groups because responsibility is shared. Conformity has lots of benefits within lots of harms. The democratic society can only maintain the order of social behaviours by expecting its individulas to conform in case private acceptance. Popenoe explains risky shift as people in groups feel less personally responsible for a decision (Popenoe,158). As we saw uncontroled and without thinking conformity can lead us to irreversible faults. Conforming only in behaviours but not in belief is called complience.
