Sad America

I don't think it makes a difference what first brought to my attention the fact that America sucks. But incase you were wondering it was our countries "knee jerk reaction" to the World Trade Center tragedy. I know It's not fair to say that the whole country sucks; however, I have lost faith in our media, our government, and the majority of the general public. The reason for my loss of faith in them is: from my point of view, not one of these three has shown any interest in looking at a situation objectively, or trying to uncover the truth. Even though it is now, October 3, (thirty three days since the tragedy occured) I still have yet to see an end to this lack of objectivity and dissinterest in uncovering the truth. So Im going to decide now that calling any of the evidence Im going to use to try and prove my point, a mere "knee jerk reaction" is B.S.. Call me impatient, but im just waiting for someone, anyone, to ask what seems to me the most obvious question. Why was America, out of all places, attacked? I mean if someone slaps you out of the blue don't you usually say, "What was that for?"? But Americans, the media, and the politicians seem much more concerned with airport security, nationalism, reveng

It is common knowledge that American tourists are rude and disrespectful while visiting other countries. However, we cannot blame this solely on the public of America and the officials we elect. But that aside the media has completely lost not just it's objectivity but most importantly it's sense of responsibility to deliver truth. I suspect a major reason that there is no peace in the middle east is because the US had more to gain from the fighting. As children we are taught that we are fortunate to live in this land of the free and home of the brave. Im convinced only we Americans are so concerned with money and power, that we could see jealousy as a real motive for such a brutal attack. To quote a fellow student, "How would you feel if every day you saw people in your country getting killed by American-made weapons?". After all the man had never left this country until his office called him to do so. If freedom and bravery come at the price of truthfulness, objectivity, awareness and compassion than I don't think it's worth it. Bush truly just being the puppet representative of the genuine anger of Americans by his calls for retaliation? Or is he himself too unknowledgeable to see that the problems are with our own country. I am not afraid of another attack on New York. What is news if it's not truth? How can a responsible news program show footage taken ten years ago and portray it as a current event? How can a headline say one thing and the article following contain a completely different message? Have we as Americans lost the will to live in the real world, because we find it easier to eat the garbage that is fed to us? This possibility is absolutely revolting. We go so far as to even be disrespectful when we are in other countries. " I think I'm gonna take all my friends and move to Canada"~Ani Difranco .
