RU486
The article I chose is about the anti-progesterone RU-486 (mifepristone). I chose this article for a few reasons. I was interested in the article's content, and although the article appeared to be straight forward there were many hidden messages. Before this article I knew nothing about RU-486. I would have read this article and probably passed right over the messages that makes the article negative about this drug for moral reasons instead of scientific ones. The article appears to be a straight forward article explaining what Ru-486 is, what it does, and that it is very bad. It is trying to present an argument against a drug that could help many women just because of a personal moral belief. The author asks if RU-486 is safe. But after considering the article's real message I find that it is not women friendly. First, by a Professor of Bioethics who explains RU-486 can be used for Cushing's disease, breast cancer, complications with delivery, and endometriosis. They represent perhaps the greatest threat yet to life, liberty, and the family generation. One of the quotes included was from a 17 year old girl, "I felt like I was dying.
