Reality shows are especially entertaining because they seem so authentic. They deem it a reality because it is a person unknowingly being watched by billions of people. They are so involved in the show that it is affecting them into doing their own job properly. Tools do not affect the dignity and rectitude of the culture to which they are introduced. The situation, Postman argues, is quite the opposite; TV often embraces these subjects but, because it is tilted toward amusement and emotional gratification rather than coherent, logical thinking, it turns them into entertainment. in the latter half of the twentieth century, [television] has reached a perverse maturity in America's consuming love affair with television.
