Speed Reading

Claims on Speed Reading having effects on the comprehension level of an individual dated back 30 years ago. There were a lot of techniques being introduced regarding speed-reading however; there are only a few extensive studies on that measure and evaluate speed-reading in relation with comprehension. Most studies are focused only in developing speed-reading but what they do not identify is that comprehension should also be within the picture and should be measured too instead of only enhancing speed-reading. An experiment on speed-reading, were randomly assigned participants of St. Benedict College into two groups consisting of ten people per group whose ages range from 18-23. The treatment group would be given seminars and exposed to speed-reading techniques a while the control group would be given a reading a comprehension test the most. Results indicate that subjects exposed to speed-reading seminars achieved both higher speeds of reading and slight raise in comprehension levels.
