Education in South Africa
"Nonwhites in South Africa outnumber the whites by 6 to 1, ...but the Black States comprise 13 percent of the country's geographical area." (2) This is just one of countless examples of how Apartheid has deprived blacks in South Africa of their natural rights. Apartheid has had a major impact on the school system in South Africa. The black children of the ghetto townships have little chance of education and most can't even read. One example of how Apartheid degrades the education of black South African children is the less than adequate education offered in black school. Poor education in tribal schools determines the future of black South African children because they are being oppressed into inferiority, because they will not be able to become successful, and because they will not be as powerful when they are uneducated.
The schools in black townships are not compulsory, and much too expensive for some households so children end up never getting an education. If they just accept the life they are given then that's all they will have. " (2) With the condition as it is, the black children of South Africa can never hope to succeed in the white world. "Of 303,000 South African children who entered primary school in 1980, less than 34,000 remained until graduation. Education is the key to success, knowledge, and life. " (1) Black schools are even more expensive to attend, even when the black population is so much more poor than the whites. Asians, and Coloureds education is free and compulsory,. If you are ignorant and don't look towards the future, you will back your self up into a dead end. Without it, there is nothing left to strive for. They will continue their lifestyles as factory workers or garbage men. Black children are being suppressed into inferiority. The environment in black schools is unsanitary.
