Child prostitution

I would like so much to have something to sell, instead of selling myself " This was said by a girl named Jennifer who was rescued from prostitution by Virlanie Foundation. She is just one of millions of children who are involved in the child sex trade, prostitution. These children were innocent, they were not given a choice when they entered a life of prostitution. This paper will discuss child prostitution. It will provide the reader with a background of the atrocities that are occurring around the world. The paper will examine why children are forced to enter a life of prostitution. As well, the paper inform the readers of how others are responsible for the children becoming involved in the child sex trade. The paper will conclude with a look into child sex tourism. Child prostitution and the sexual trafficking of children is humanities greatest crime. Every part of the world is affected by child prostitution. The amount of children becoming involved in the child sex trade is increasing at an alarming large amount. The age which the children are joining the sex trade is decreasing quickly. The profit potential in the life of a child prostitution is huge. So is the risk of disease and death.

The children are lured or away from their families and communities. If a family has limited financial resources, it is more likely that the male children become educated, therefore they grow up with more options than their sisters. Drug dealer use them as messengers, paying them in crack cocaine, reducing the children to addicts, and finally begin to force the children to prostitute themselves, as now, the children need to earn money for drugs. It is often common for girls who are involved in prostitution to experience rape. Twenty-five percent of them are American. The United States has also seen an increase of juvenile prostitutes working on the streets. The Philippines and Thailand are especially entrenched in widespread child prostitution. The majority of sex tourists travel separately or in pairs on regular passenger flights. The false promise of a job often comes with the promise to arrange for travel documents and visa, safe and easy travel, and a safe place to live. Child prostitution is extremely destructive. Many cultures have preferences for male children. In a poverty-stricken area there is generally a high rate of illiteracy and a discernible lack of marketable skills. Whether the child was expelled or he dropped out is not of importance. In both types of countries previous sexual and physical abuse is a major cause. Cheaper airfares, the opening of countries once closed because of war or politics, and the advent of the Internet all provide more options for pedophiles who go abroad looking for underage sex.
