Islam And Buddism
Religion is the belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power, especially a personal God. There are many recognized religions in the world, which all teach its followers to live life the right way, but the meaning differs according to the religion itself. They have some beliefs and practices that are totally similar and distinct from one another. Some examples are the differences and similarities of Buddhism and Islam from many different aspects. Buddhism came from India, and was headed by Prince Siddharta Gautama, who later became known as Buddha or the enlightened one. Born has a prince living in a caste, he later abandoned his comfortable life to find place of nirvana (paradise). In order to do that, he joined a band of ascetic, who was a group of Hindu priests. In his teaching, the Buddha taught his followers to follow the middle way. He accomplished enough understanding of the nature of being by meditation. After his success, he decided to reveal his knowledge to everyone that will follow him. Islam initiated in Mecca, where Prophet Muhammad (Peace be Upon Him) was born. Buddhists believe in karma, rebirth, dharma and moksa. As the religion grew older and its followers increase, different institution began to appear and some practices changes. They are having the right attitudes towards life, in a Buddhist way. 5% of his savings to charity, and this is termed Zakat. This action-reaction may take happen at anytime, may be in the present life or not. Similar to Buddhism, Islam also had a separation in its followers. The ultimate goal in both religions also differ, Muslims are to go to heaven, whereas Buddhists' are to attain nirvana. A God in a monotheistic religion, while on the contrary Buddha initially existed as a man. Shahada is the proclamation of the belief that there is only one God, and Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is His messenger. So the teaching of Buddha may not be as accurate as in the days of his preaching. In addition, Buddhism is a pantheistic religion, but later an educational theoretical belief developed. Many of the women have to hide under the veil. Fasting from dawn to dusk for a Muslims is a crucial during the month of Ramadan. The Koran was believed to have been passed down to Muhammad for about twenty-three years by the archangel Gabriel's (Allah's angel) voice.
