When I was in seventh grade, I took french 1. We covered a lot of there culturethe majority of it was. We came across a mans life that to me will always be a legacy. His name was Vincent vanGogh. Vincent van Gogh was seen as a failure in his lifetime which lead to various mental disorders and ultimately suicide, but today he is viewed as the foremost representative of postimpressionist art. Unable to conform to normal life, Vincent turned to art to passionately express his feelings. His style of choppy brush strokes of amazing colors was looked down upon by other artist of his time but with support from his brother, Theo, Vincent lived his dream of becoming an artist. Although he enjoyed painting
It took centeries for people to realize vincents, remarkable talent. In 1888, Vincent asked Theo to convince his old painter friend from Paris, Paul Gauguin, to join him in Arles to work with him. After the ear incident and these hallucinations, Van Gogh realized he was mentally insane and should send himself to a mental hospital at Saint Paul-de-Mansole. He listened and he spoke mind, showing me all that I had forced myself not to see. The true cause was never discovered. After failing his classes, Vincent served as a missionary from November 1878 to July 1879 in a coal mining district in Belgium. His early work, which includes rural landscapes, still life's, and images of working peasants, is marked by a great sense of immediacy and a bold execution. Van Gogh was deeply hurt by failure and rejection. Theo boosted Vincent's moral by telling him that he may not be well-known now, but one day people would appreciate his work . In February of 1888, he left Paris and moved to a rural area called Arles, in Provence. This was true, because Vincent only sold two paintings while he was alive. While in Paris, Van Gogh discovered the ancient art of Japanese woodblock prints. Vincent's only supporter was his younger brother, Theo, to whom he wrote frequently. Theo was very delighted that Vincent was trying to find himself, and sent him 100 francs every month to buy art supplies.
