Prohibiting Our Freedom Prohibition has been one of the most embarassing times that our country has ever seen. Through visions of unattainable dreams, our government tried to prohibit the sales of all alcoholicbeverages. This attempt did not lead to a more proper, stable country. Prohibition lead to a morecorrupt, illegal structure of society that would last for generations to follow. Prohibition is often referred to as a prime example of the American way. American is acountry full of many freedoms and self choices. The prohibition of something seems to infringeon Americans freedom to make their own decisions. The simple fact that Alcohol was illegal,made it popular. People did not want the government interfering with their choice of beverages. Prohibiton was ineffective that the consumtion of alcohol increased during prohibiton.
Prohibition is respnsible for that. Today prohibition can be senn in the prohibiting of drugs. Legalizing drugs is an option that the government will not consider. This would put an end to much crime and education could teach thepublic about moderation or the benefits of sobriety. Maybe theanswer is to legalize drugs. But who is to saythat all drug use is wrong? Why cant mature, stable people decide what is best for themselves? The answer is that the government is afraid to try a new approach. The goals of our government should focus on the education of the benefits of notindulging in drug use. Whether this would be the right decision ornot, something needs to be done. Crimes and murdersdealing with drugs happen everyday while the government sits and tries to decide what to doabout it. It is hard not to compare theprohibiton of alcohol with today's prohibition of drugs. It is an open secret that the dangerous increaseof crime in this country is closely connected with this. "I believe that the percentage of whiskey drinkers in the united Statesnow is greater than any other country of the world. Itis human nature to desire what we are not permitted to have.
