Drugs

Drugs, they are everywhere. They are in the cities, and the suburbs, clubs, even on college campuses just like C.W. Post. Just say no? That is not exactly the philosophy that the vast majority of the United States population tends to follow. Drugs have become a routine aspect of everyday life in the United States. There are always going to be a debate whether or not to legalize drugs. The banning of illegal drugs goes back to the days of the Prohibition problems involving the banishment of alcohol. Prohibition obviously did not work in the 1920's, and some modern day people feel that making drugs legal would solve the constantly rising drug problem. On the other hand, drugs should not be legalized because there would be an increase in drug abuse due to its availability. Society and the economy would be greatly effected by legalization. Alcohol was different. The was a use for it in bars, and restaurants after prohibition. Alcohol, a greater percentage of the time, will not effect someone in a way a drug would. If legalized, drugs would become cheaper and more accessible to people who previously had not tried drugs, because of the high price or the legal risk. Drug abuse would rise to great extremes. Hey, you never know! I wrote from both points of view because I am not sure whether or not legalization wouldbe a good idea. It can be your boss, mother, uncle, or anyone else important to you. The temptation to use drugs would increase when advertisements for cocaine, heroin and marijuana are displayed on any type of advertisement. From this, one may infer the same of legalizing drugs. People would need more help, society may change, as well as the economy. People will still fight on either side. Some may say crimes will be detered if drugs are legalized, but how?, people will still need money to purchase them. The song is " Peace not greed, " by Kottonmouth Kings. For every point, there is a counter point, and vice-versa. Once again, on the other hand, things may get oout of hand. The crimes are the results of the drug problem.
