Oedipus

Oh, why do all the clues to who murdered Laius seem to lead to me? If I had known it was he I wouldn ever have been so stubborn, so pigheaded! I should have just moved over and let him continue on his merry way. Or no, better yet, HE should have moved over and let ME through! It serves him right! Oh, either way everything would have turned out so much better! Oh, no it wasn't me! It COULDN'T have been me! Could it have? I didn't know! I had no ide! But I suppose if it was I, I must step up and take the circumstances like the man that I am! Like the man my mother and father brought me up ot be! Sure, I didn't know when I made the curse that I could be the murderrer or Laius! But I still made it! What would my people think if I didn't take responsibility for my own actions? They would lose all respect for me! What would my daughters say if they knew that their father ran away from his problems? They would be emotionally scarred! No, I can't do that to them! I love them too much for that. Well, @ least I know I didn't kill my fatherrr! The wise man apparently wasn't so wise. I hope others didn't listen to his horrid prophecies! He could have ruined more lives than just ours! I mean, surely La

But it still must have Jocasta confirm this for me. murderer of King Laius and husband of Queen Jocasta? Oh, I long for both of those statements to be false! What shall I tell my children? Poor, dear Antigone and Ismene. ius wasn't my father, ha! Nor Jocasta my mother, that's for sure! I'm in the clear there. I'll live alone for the rest of my life! On Mount Cithaeron I shall stay alone! Blind and alone! LIterally! That is the way it was meant to be. Let them live normal, happy lives! Don't let the people forever shun them for being born of incest when it was obviiously not their fault! Noone can change his or her birth! I don't believe I had an actual relationship with my moehter! The thought makes me feel unclean! The thought is absolutely appallikng! Oh Jocasta there's no way! Please, tell me this is untrue. I must adhere to the dcurse, even though I knew not that I was cursing myself @ the time.
