Rebecca

1. Do you think the title of the book Rebecca is appropriately named? Explain. Yes, I think the title of the book is very appropriate. Although Rebecca did not actually appear in the story, she is a very important role form the beginning of the story till the end, every character was being influenced by her and she is the centre of the story, by naming the book Rebecca, it can attract reader's attention and arouse their interests. Moreover, the name of Rebecca is repeated many times in the story, it gives a special effect to the story. Why do I say that Rebecca is one of the most important roles in the story? If you have read the story, you must notice that when the story starts, Rebecca had already died, she did not actually appear in the story at all, however, readers notice Rebecca's existence at the beginning of the story, as the narrator sees that Maxim was constantly thinking of her and Rebecca's things, for example the poetry that Rebecca gave Maxim. Moreover, Rebecca was constantly reminded by the narrator, throughout the story, and as the story goes on, the story of Maxim murdering Rebecca was unfold. Rebecca is a very important role because everything starts from the murdering of her,

Danvers, Jack Favell, Maxim, Beatrice and Frank Crawley, the narrator was always comparing herself with Rebecca, she is always thinking of her, and she is depressed. The writer deliberately named the book 'Rebecca' as to show that the narrator was always haunted by her and how she feels, this is a effect to let the readers feel how the narrator feels. Talking about the plot, Rebecca is a very important character, she is the centre of the story, every thing started from the murdering of her. She is a very important character, as she influences all most all of the other characters in the story, for example Maxim , Mrs. As a result, the name of Rebecca is always repeated, and we know about Rebecca more than the narrator herself, we do not know much about the narrator's background, we even do not know her name. If Rebecca was not murdered, all of these things would not happen, so we can say that she is a very important role in the story. Moreover, she is always haunting the narrator although she is dead already, she still exist in Manderley, in people's heart from the beginning of the story till the end. These shows that even Rebecca is dead, she stills influences and affects all the main characters in the story, and she still lives in everyone's heart, she's still haunting the narrator, We know that the narrator was always haunted by Rebecca, discovering things that used to belong to Rebecca and comparing herself with her. However, in Rebecca, Rebecca did not really appear in the story, it gives a surprise to the readers that Rebecca had already died when the story starts and the readers will grow interest on this book. Mrs Danvers simply admires Rebecca, thinking that she is stronger than men and is superior to the narrator, she thinks that no one could ever replace her, so she did not respect the narrator and even hated her. Readers know that what sort of people is Rebecca through the mouth of the narrator, Mrs. The author of the story deliberately named the book, this is a technique to arouse readers interest and gives surprises to the readers, so in my opinion, Rebecca is a very suitable name for the book. Danvers ,Jack Favell , Frank, the other high social status people and definitely she haunted the narrator most. as Maxim has murdered her, was always afraid of being discovered and so he went to Monte Carlo and met the narrator, the story was developed from the murder of Rebecca.
