Poem comparison

Both of the given texts, text A and B, is about trees. Yet, the texts are very differen in the way they are presented. Text A is an advertisement, while text B is written as a short story. In text A, the writer has chosen to introduce his rather informative advertisement with a comentary to a picture. The picture is a part of the text and displays a lonely chair surrounded by big, old trees. The commentary is about how valuable a family reunion is, and makes the reader assosiate his own experiences with the picture. This creates a personal bonding between the audience and the text. Further on, the writer talks about the organisation, WWF, and what they have achieved. He also presents what they are doing to expand their campaign and what the audience can do to paricipate. In the end, the writer frames the story in by saying "After all, we´ve got millions of babies to look after now". This phrase points back at the introduction. In text A, the author plays with the readers conscience. First, by humanising the trees and make it look like if we split up families and made them unhappy. Secondly, by saying that if you are to buy some new furniture, by furniture with the FSC mark on it, "so you can buy it with clear

On the other hand, they are written and presented in two very different ways. There is very little to read between the lines and it is not used irony nor humor. In this text it is hard to determine a specific target audience, but considering the language this story is probably not meant for too young children. On the other hand, the story could be ment as nothing more than a story about birches. The target audience would be people who for one reason or another would have to buy furniture or other products made of wood. In text A, the writer says quite directly that he is against chopping wood from non managed forests. The picture of a chair in a "family reunion" is almost the only tool that is used to express the messege of the text. In the beginning, the writer describes the irrepressible birch and how people seem to take its existence for granted. Both texts, A and B, are also about how forest spread and how they are controlled. Text A can seem quite shallow when it comes to interpretation because it is very objecive, wheras text 2 can be looked upun in many different ways. But in this particular case, deer has protected the old birch by clearing the twigs of the piles. All together, the two texts has certein things within the theme of the texts in common. This can be compared to the way mankind is so dependant on the trees, but still chop them down in huge amounts.
