The American civil war was unavoidable
             Civil War: In U.S. history, the conflict (1861–65) between the Northern states (the Union) and the Southern states that seceded from the Union and formed the Confederacy. It is generally known in the South as the War between the States and is also called the War of the Rebellion (the official Union designation), the War of Secession, and the War for Southern Independence. It has been characterized, in the words of William H. Seward, as the "irrepressible conflict." In another judgment the Civil War was viewed as criminally stupid, an unnecessary bloodletting brought on by arrogant extremists and blundering politicians. Both views accept the fact that in 1861 there existed a situation that, rightly or wrongly, had come to the point that could not have been solved by peacfull means.
             The American civil war was unavoidable for many reasons. There were major disagreements about various subjects and one of the biggest conflict causes was slavery.
             The problems started in January 1861 when Abraham Lincoln was elected president. He was known to object slavery and so South Carolina who approved of the use of slaves, threatened to remove the state out of the United states of America. South Carolina pulled out and after it followed 10 more states, Mississippi, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, Texas, Virginia, Arkansas, Tennessee, and North Carolina. These states became the confederates. Though actions were taken only when president Lincoln was elected president, the war was also unavoidable because of the large amount of people who opposed slavery. These people wouldn't have just watched along side as the use of slaves continued and so the election of Abraham Lincoln was just a push closer to the civil war.
