The Chief Aims of Man

The chief aims of man are something that has been pondered for centuries. While we may never know for sure, I can take a guess from some research and my own experiences. I am looking at this from a life or death perspective. I think that the two main ones are that in times of calm, to expand in knowledge, power, and wealth, and in times of distress, to survive. I will prove this by looking at the past and present, then by predicting the future. In the distant past mankind only had one goal, to survive. Run from the dinosaur, don't kick the alligator, etc. But eventually when people started liking accessories, such as utensils, clothes, and the other common comforts we take for granted, they wanted to get more of this when they weren't doing anything. So, when they were doing nothing they were learning something, and by learning it really helped them survive in times of distress. By gaining more money they made it easier to survive by having more resources at

But we have forgotten the basics, if one of us crashed in the jungle, would we survive? No, I doubt it. So in the end people will only be expanding their knowledge, wealth, and power and not surviving, even though it was survival that led them to that goal. So it goes from survival only to expanding only, this is the way it should work out, so in the year 5043 and you make my clone, you can all praise me as a god who can see into the future. Ironic, don't you think? So there are two main goals of man, to survive in times of distress, and to expand in knowledge, power, and wealth in times of calm. There will be water, concrete, and steel. Now I'm no Nostradamus but I think that in the future the entire world will be one big city. But, if one of the things they learned in a time of calm was how to survive in the jungle, they have a better chance. In the past, the goal only was to survive. So today life is more of a social survival unless you choose to learn about it. School and work are how we do this. But in times of distress, none of this stuff mattered. caveman instincts and just want to survive.
