January 1910 - In Veracruz, a respectable middle class citizen, Sanatanon Rodriguez Palafox, supplies meat to a German hacienda owner, Robert Voigt. Voigt cheats him out of seven hundred pesos. When Sanatanon protests, the German arranges with the local jefe politico, for Sanatanon to be drafted. (Johnson,18) Madero travels to Sonora, where he meets Jose Maria Maytorena. Even though he is a Reyes supporter, Maytorena agrees to start a club of Sonoran Madero supporters. Madero leaves Sonora for Chihuahua, followed by 20 uniformed Rurales. (McCreary, 23)February 1910 - Abraham Gonzalez, chief of the Madero campaign in the state of Chihuahua, makes his first contact with Pancho Villa. (Krauze, 307) Zapata drafted into the army (his second time) for "political activity," but actually for stealing a young woman. Ignacio de la Torre, Diaz's son-in-law, arranges for his discharge, and employs Zapata as groom in his stables in Mexico City. (Womack, 62-63)March 1910 - Colonel Ángeles completes his commission to study methods of Artillery Application at Fontainbleu. (Hall) Orozco defeats Huerta forces at Ojinaga, but is wounded. (Meyer, 69) Except for small pockets, Orozco controls all of the state of Chihuahua. Hostages, and Zapata's relatives are released from captivity. Felix Diaz, nephew of ex-President Diaz formed an army near Veracruz against Madero. On the 25th, Diaz addresses the Congress and promises suffrage, no reelection and autonomous local government. (Krauze) Madero attempts to solve the land problem by securing a loan of 100,000,000 pesos to buy private land, but the legislature balks at such a large sum. (Womack) The armed movements that defied the Madero government no longer exist: The Zapata rebellion is geographically isolated and does not threaten the government. Madero leads an attack on Casas Grandes, Chihuahua. November 1910 - In the mountains outside the city of Chihuahua, a local leader of Madero's party gathers 100 armed men. Despite the fact that he has been unable to win a single military victory, he designates himself as First Chief of the Constitutional forces, and draws up the Plan of Guadalupe. The delay allows the federal army to reinforce the garrison. (Camin & Meyer, 31)November 1912 - Orozco is in St. Conservative elements start to take notice of Huerta.
