Digital Fortress summary
I have always like fiction books especially if they had to do with technology. So when I stumbled on this on this book called the Digital Fortress I automatically wanted to read it. This book is starts of with the introduction of a super computer that is used by the government to crack codes that are set on the email in order to get information about things like terrorist attacks and things like that. Then we get this guy that is crippled but brilliant with computer he one of the people that made this super computer. After the computer is this guy is not satisfied with what the computer is being used for. So he goes public with it. The government is obviously not happy about this so they make a full of him publicly and send him some where were no one will care about what this guy is saying. But this guy tries to get back at the government, so he makes a virus and tell the whole world that this virus is actually an email with an unbreakable code. And send this so-called email to the super computer. He then talks to Commander Thrawsmore and tells him that unless Thrawsmore tells the world about his super computer he is going to sell this coder . . .
Susan figure out the code on the ring is coded and reveals it she get at the last second the code types it in dismisses the virus and get everything back to normal. Thrawsmore thinking that the crippled guy might sell the program has him assassinated by the professional killer like he had a heart attack. David Becker, who is my favorite characters, is brought out as a boring old guy that teaches in a university but then becomes James Bond. The author of this book did a very good job writing this about and even better one brings out the charters. Then there were other moment when David was hanging behind the wall of a building on the other side of where the killer was and when the killer passed David by, David climes over the wall and surprise the killer with a hard hit by a wooden board and eventually kills the killer. Like when he was trying to run away from the Killer (who was trying to get a ring with a code on it) and got chased into a church with a lot of people in it, but David knew that the killer would have no problem of spotting David because David was wearing a coat that was different from every one else. The interesting thing is that David Becker turns out to be this James Bond type of guy. Later what ends up happening is that the killer kills the other person. Then the soldiers bring the killer and the David to a van. So for a while bunches of people are trying to figure out how to stop the virus form breaking down the firewall. When Susan is given the code through a TV transmission between the soldiers and her. Who is really quick thinker and a fighter. So what Thrawsmore does is he get the husband (David) of his best worker Susan and makes David go to the crippled guy and get the code that will unlock the email and let the computer know how to crack this code. to the public and then the computer will be useful. While David is having fun looking for the ring and being chased by the killer the virus takes it’s effect and starts breaking the firewall in the computer that stop unauthorized people from looking a top secret information of the government on the super computer.
