Every American is considered innocent until proven guilty. Every American has the right to a fair trial. Why is it that these basic American rights seem to be fading with time? Does the jury system work? To Kill A Mockingbird reveals the faults in the jury system. Likewise, the trial of O.J. Simpson demonstrated how the jury system fails to function fairly. onsidered innocent until proven guilty. One character gets the group talking and eventually switches everyone's vote from the original "guilty" to a vote of "not guilty. In it, a lot of people do not want to be there and are hurrying to leave. If somebody in the jury did believe that Tom Robinson was not guilty, he would probably have not brought it up anyway. All it takes is one willing person. Tom was considered guilty until proven guilty. It would be extremely hard to say if the jury system works or not.
