This information is being siphoned through computers and shared, transferred as well as sold to various agencies without the individuals consent or knowledge or the transaction. Data is becoming more readily available to intrusive organizations and meddling agencies wishing to gain access a person's unique personal account. A proactive effort must be made to ensure that our rights do not dissolve into a filthy quagmire of utopian fascism upheld by a cloak and dagger scheme of protection and executive rule. In order to find and equilibrium between freedom, security and privacy, individuals must be informed and exert objective reasoning. In effort to increase security in public establishments such as airports and malls, retinal scanning machines, full body x-ray devices and elementary finger printing analyzers have been implemented. Technological devices that at one time may have appeared benign may in fact contribute to the limitations abundant in the environment. I hope to explore the condition that personal privacy is in and the factors present that are both contributing to, and detracting from, contemporary issues surrounding the topic Stretching from seemingly mundane procedures such as swiping ID cards to re-enter the dorm buildings past midnight to identity theft and fraud, the issue of privacy is one that effects every aspect of our lives. Potential employers, insurance companies and even educational institutions may gain access to a person's biological references and act upon a situation with bias consideration. Often times these methods are overly evasive and are performed without individuals being informed. I believe it is inherently unjust to interfere with an individuals privacy and well being without proper representation and documentation. Awareness is key in establishing a person's position within the system. There is a fine dichotomy between freedom and security that exists. People wish for their unalienable rights to be maintained meanwhile retaining the very freedoms that make life liberty and the pursuit of happiness worthwhile. Such practices have been insulated from the law and carried on in order to create a more "secure" environment. People must decide the value of privacy and the converse nature of security that is present on the opposite pole. Such personal information is easily stored on magnetic strips placed upon licenses, credit cards or even implanted within the skin for permanent, easy access. Ultimately, it is unknown where such informationmay drift and how it may be used against the individuals at risk.
