First Flight of the Wright Brothers

             WHO: The brothers Orville and Wilbur Wright
             WHAT: The first powered, human-crewed flight
             HOW: Two brothers combined their hobbies of hang-gliding and bicycling to have a flight of 12 seconds
             This event was chosen because of my interest in flying and the tremendous impact of this single event. Today millions of people pass every year and take a fraction of the time the Wright Brothers did. Modern inventions combined with their research have enabled America's Air Force to own the sky. This flight getting off the ground will forever be a milestone in human vision and ability due to the many years of the invention is involved. There is no doubt in my mind that the U.S. would be different today if this event were not to happen.
             Had this event not occurred at this time, to these people, or even at all, life and history would be very different. One example was that in World War One, airplanes were used expensively for watching troop movements and mapping enemy fortifications. Had no airplanes existed, we may have lost the war. Another example is World War Two. Had no aircraft been listed in that war, all major bombing campaigns would have been impossible, including Pearl Harbor and the dropping of the atomic bombs. The world may be a much better place with the help of aircraft in those wars in preventing evil from succeeding in its plans.
             The first powered flight is more important than September 11 because the airplane was the primary tool in the acts of terrorism in our country. If planes were nonexistent, America would have never been a threat to Al-Queda and the Taliban due to the primitive forms of transportation used before the airplane was invented. If the aircraft was not designed, the U.S. might have been overcome in a previous conflict, and American life would be changed forever. Air transportation unites our country and makes
