Should Jefferson be Impeached?

Thomas Jefferson is widely known for his accomplishments of being the third president of the United States (1801-1809) and author of the Declaration of Independence. He was one of the most brilliant individuals in history. His interests were boundless, and all of his life accomplishments were great and varied. He was a philosopher, educator, naturalist, politician, scientist, architect, inventor, pioneer in scientific farming, musician, writer, and he was the foremost spokesman for democracy of his day. During his presidency though it wasn't all smooth riding for him because he was faced with impeachment threats. They were unfounded though because he did not lie under oath or commit treason, two elements worthy of direct impeachment. Everything that Jefferson did was for the good of the country and its people. People disputed the actions Jefferson took, during his two terms, in the case of the Louisiana Purchase, Embargo Act, and Tripoli Pirates. The Louisiana Territory extended from the Canadian border to the Gulf of Mexico and from the Mississippi River to the Rocky Mountains. France and Napoleon Bonaparte owned the Louisiana Territory. This territory was purchased from Napoleon Bonapa

A later deal by Livingston though was established for $15 million for the entire Louisiana Territory. He was the first president to lead a political party, and through it he exercised control over the Congress of the United States. When the ruler of Tripoli demanded an increase in the tribute in 1801, Jefferson refused to agree to it. As president, Jefferson strengthened the powers of the executive branch of government. The Embargo Act, passed December 22, 1807, forbade the United States to export American goods and forbade all United States vessels from leaving for foreign ports. The Embargo Act stopped France and England from capturing American ships and taking their goods, without paying for them. He did nothing of that sort though and remained in office for a full two terms. rte and France for $15 million, it doubled the size of the U. Opposition did grow to this logical precaution though and therefore Jefferson had no other choice but to repeal the act just days before his he left office. Piracy had become a normal source of income in the North African Barbary States long before the United States came into existence. He had great faith in popular rule, and it is this optimism that is the essence of what came to be called Jeffersonian democracy.
