Year- round Schooling
The issue of year-around schools has been a topic of discussion for some time now. Supports for the idea believe that students who have long periods of no school tend to be forget-full of their previous knowledge. They might also say that it keeps students off the streets and out of trouble. However, I oppose the supporters of year-around schooling. I contradict year-around school because, it burns students out, takes away from teenage life, and takes away from the teachers ability to teach at their highest
Many students have to go through this all year, every year. This time off is the students' time to have fun and be productive individuals. Finally, I believe that summer break not only gives students time to relax and have fun, but it is also good for the teachers. Furthermore, it takes away from the lives of teenagers, and also the teachers. However, I feel that teachers may sometimes feel as students do, "burned out". Next, the teenage years are most commonly said to be the best years of a person's life. In conclusion, supporters believe that year-around schooling contributes to academic excellence. Teachers need a break as well as students. First, just the thought of student going to school all year long sounds strenuous. It could be argued that teachers are more productive without long periods of off time. To require students to go to year-around school would not only hurt their grades, but it would also take away from personal life. However, it is my contention that year-around schooling actually has an adverse affect making school tedious, thus affecting the academic potential of students. Knowing that there is no summer to look forward to may not entice the kids to get the school year over with thus, lowering their academic capabilities and decreasing grades.
