Roswell: Myth of Reality?
Government cover-ups are a common staple in today's movies. What is it about them that intrigue the American public? Is it their potential truth? The fact that the government actually does hide potentially dangerous information from the very people whom they are trying to keep safe? OR, is it that what they're actually trying to hide is something they themselves cannot explain? Whatever the answer may be, there is one particular government cover-up that has continued to intrigue and maintain the attention of the American public for over 50 years: Roswell. Before elaborating about the government's role on the cover-up at Roswell, you need to know what transpired at Roswell, New Mexico. The year was 1947. There have been nation-wide sightings of paranormal UFO's...800 reported cases to be exact. The entire nation is gripped in fear of a possible alien encounter, when...it happens. During the first week of July 1947, "something" crashed outside of Roswell, New Mexico (Wilson 2). Jim Ragsdale remembers camping on that very weekend and recalls seeing an object in the sky plummet to the ground at an amazing speed. The very same occurrence was also reported by "Mac" Brazel and his wife, the very owners of the land on which
Corso has sworn under oath that he saw alien bodies in July of '47 and had the opportunity to read the autopsy reports. After hauling as much of the debris as he possible could back to his barn, "Mac" contacted the local law enforcement officer, George Wilcox, who examined the debris and contacted Intelligence Officer Major Jesse Marcel of the 509 Bomb Squad at Nellis Air Force Range (Area S4). Finally, once all of the debris had been located, it was taken to Area 51 for further classification. Around noon on July 8, Colonel Blanchard from Nellis Air Force Range ordered Second Lt. The next day, Glenn Dennis met the nurse at a local cafe where she drew him basic pictures of the beings that she had witnessed. 54% of Americans are convinced that there are the odds of finding aliens in our lifetime. After issuing that press release stating that the United States Military recovered an actual UFO, Jesse Marcel received that telephone call from Washington, DC to scrap the press release, and here's why. That very afternoon, Colonel Blanchard received a telephone call directly from Washington telling him to scrap the initial report and to issue one stating that the remnants of a weather-balloon were discovered, not a UFO (Forbidden 1). , the public interest is far from dwindling (Time 2). You can tell how much our society has taken a fall in ethics, morals, and principles when the very government that is supposed to help, encourage, and protect its citizens, hides situations from us solely because they think we can not handle it. Later that day, Glenn Dennis drove out to the base (like he normally did) where he saw large pieces of wreckage with strange engravings on them (which corresponds with other reports). Specific activities and operations conducted on the Nellis Range, both past and present, remain classified and cannot be discussed publicly (Forbidden 3).
