Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf
Edward Albee's, Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf, takes the audience through a night of a few drinks shared by college professors. This show first appeared via television on October 15, 1962 and is considered to be one of the most important plays in modern theatre. The play is set in the home of George, a college history professor, and Martha, his wife. Being a comfortable environment for George and Martha, they act like hooligans and make a public display of their private issues when their guests, Nick and Honey, join them at two in the morning. Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf is presented in three acts. The first act provides the audience with the necessary rising action that introduces the characters. After the guests arrive George and Martha proceed to play various "games" where they attack each other's insecuriti
Then, conversation switches to George's son. " There is one very good monologue for a girl. George explains that Junior's home life was a wreck and so he repeatedly ran away. She is 26 years old, has a weak stomach, and is not the brightest bulb of the bunch. He is 30 years old, good-looking, Midwestern, and clean-cut. Later, George tells Honey, while she is in the bathroom in between puking, that he and Martha's son is dead. Nick and Honey watch and attempt to mediate the "games" until the game turns into, "Get the Guests. There are also several guy-girl and guy-guy scenes within this text. The audience then learns that Martha and George are unable to have children and they created this imaginary son, but George decided it was time to end the "charade. George is married to Martha in a once loving relationship now defined by sarcasm and frequent acrimony. Nick has just become a new member of the biology faculty at New Carthage University. Then, Martha begins to scream at George for "killing" their son. It faithfully kept my attention the entire time. It is Martha speaking at the beginning of act three.
