Hindus believe that marriage is for the combining of two spirits into one. A Hindu man is not considered to be complete until he is married and has the chance to find love and have a son of his own. A Hindu woman is not considered to be complete either until she is married off to another Hindu of her father's choice, then she is able to nurture their son and fulfill the duties of a traditional wife.
