Martin Luther King Junior

Martin Luther King JR. was the greatest civil rights leader. He encouraged all people of all races to help fight for equality for everyone. He battled against segregation and dreamed of a nation where children "won't be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character " He preached nonviolence and helped organize peaceful marches throughout the deep South against segregation. Martin Luther King JR. helped shape American History by changing the way that, African Americans were treated in this country. Because of his efforts America ended segregation, and offered greater political rights, and education and job opportunities to African Americans. Michael Luther King Jr., which was later changed to Martin, was born in Atlanta, Georgia, on January 15th, 1929. He had an older sister at the time and within a year he had a younger brother. He was the son of Martin Luther King Senior, a Baptist minister. His mother was a school teacher named Alberta King . He grew up on "Sweet Auburn" otherwise known as Auburn Ave., In Atlanta, Georgia. Martin attended the local segregate public schools for his high school education. He went to Morehouse College at 15 and graduated with a bachelor's degree


Then after attending Morehouse College, he went to Crozer College where he graduated in 1951 from a theological seminary at the top of his class in Pennsylvania. But, I don't believe that that is the only way to go at it. Other jobs such as teenage jobs at fast food restaurants and such were seldom, and were not really recorded. After that he went to Boston University, and graduated with a doctorate degree in 1955. King was chosen as president of MIA, (the Montgomery Improvement Association) and helped enforce many things with them as well as the Montgomery Bus Boycott. Martin Luther King created a center for social justice, where most of the marches, strikes, and boycotts were organized. After his studies there he carried on and studied at Boston University in 1955 where he went to earn his Ph. At Morehouse, Crozer, and Boston University he studied the work and philosophies of Mr. helped found the SCLC (Southern Christian's Leadership Conference), and retained membership there for the rest of his life. won the Nobel Prize of Peace in 1964 because of his effectiveness as a leader in the civil rights movement. In his studying years he developed his public speaking ability, and he won a second place prize in a speech competition at Morehouse University.
