Death Shall Set You Free
Ever wondered why death sometimes brings us happiness. To some it may cause pain, to other tears of joy, but through it all people always go through one, joy or sorrow. Through "The Story of an Hour" we see how death brings joy to the life of a woman who has been unhappy all her life by her husbands side, yet isn't aware of this unhappiness until the news of his death. In this story Kate Chopin has grasped the theme of "freedom through death" and begins to plot the story, which leads into the actual theme of what she is about to write. Setting also plays a role in the development of the story, which coincides with symbolism of the setting to the story. Some get this freedom by the death of someone else but others choose a different rout. That window is the gateway to a new life of her own, for herself and no one else. Through tone, the reader establishes a foundation to base his or her own perspective on the story. Mallard's house and then takes the story up into Ms. Outside beyond the tree tops into the blue skies. ortly after "when the storm of grief had spent itself she went away to her room alone.
