Compariosn Descriptive Essay
A few summers ago my friend asked me to go with her and her family to Corpus Christi. Never having been to the coast, naturally I was excited. After a never-ending night of packing and talking about what the week ahead would be like, we piled into the family van and began our trip. Driving through Corpus was nothing short of spectacular. I remember going over the bridge and feeling the summer air hit my face as I anxiously peered out of my window at the sparkling water flowing beneath me. When we reached the beach house of my friend I remember jumping out of the car so fast it caused my friends to laugh in amusement at my child-like reaction to this new environment.I inhaled deeply, taking in the heated summer air mixed with the salty smell coming from the ocean water. Everywhere I walked I could smell the salt and marine life of this vast body of water set before me. The first night we were there we ate dinner at a quaint little restaurant set off a pier. I can still remember the aroma that filled my senses. The sweet smell of the ocean mixed with the good smell of the food had me anticipating the arrival of my food more than . . .
I could smell the marine life, the salt of the ocean and the coolness of the summer breeze. I can feel it’s waves pound against me and the splash of the cool, salty water on my face. Though with each trip the memory never fades. Every day we went to the beach by the summer cabin. Even my red sunburn and very tired feet 6 days later were worth it. Iridescent pearl colored, dark silver, and brightly colored purple shells filled my pockets. I have been back to Corpus since then, but I think that the first time held everything so wonderfully new and innocent that the last times have only held a shred of the wonder I first beheld that initial journey. Sometimes if I looked out far enough you could see the different boats going back and forth looking for fish, and shrimp and whatever else this treasure chest held. The first night on that cruise held so much beauty that whenever I feel the need to escape I close my eyes and think hard to recall all the beautiful sights the ocean holds at night. At night the city across the bay lit up with lights every night as the night life of Corpus Christi continued. Smooth ones, rough ones with ridges, those that had no defined shape yet held a unique beauty. I would sit on the deck and watch the moonrise as the sun set. I would sit on the edge of the water and watch as children and adults were brought together with love for the ocean.
