The Patriot
Roland Emmerich was born in Stuttgart, Germany. He was born on November 10, 1955. Emmerich began his career in Germany. When he was young, he was mainly interested in the arts and later went to film school. While in the director's program at film school in Munich, his student film, "The Noah's Ark Principle," went on to open the 1984 Berlin Film Festival. The feature became a huge success and was sold to more than 20 countries. Ronald's latest works include "Godzilla" and "Independence Day" which have both went on to become major blockbusters. He co-wrote both movies as well as directed them. Mr. Emmerich now owns his own production company by the name of Centropolis Film Productions. The Patriot begins in 1776, in South Carolina. In the north, the war against the Crown has begun. The Americans revolted against the English in order to become free of English rule. The Colonies are searching for volunteers to join the regular army. Benjamin Martin (Mel Gibson), the legendary "Hero of Fort Wilderness" and now a farmer, he does not think that war is the best way to go and worries about the effect the Revolution will have on America. He tells his peers, "This wa
The clothing, accents, and the scenery made the movie very realistic. Harry Burwell (Chris Cooper) to lead the local militia in guerilla-type attacks against British targets. The Americans defeat General Cornwallis and make him retreat as the French arrive to help. There were special effects used in the battle scenes that made you feel as if you were right there, in the middle of the battle. The objective of " The Patriot" is very unclear to me. Cornwallace (played by Tom Wilkinson)and traded straw puppets for his captured men. Objective This movie, just like many other movies, has an underlying idea that good always triumphs over evil. William Tavington is appointed to get rid of Martin but does not succeed. I thought that the point of "The Patriot" was to stand up for your country, for your freedom, and for what you believe in. Instead it was made as a semi-historical battle of good versus evil. Gabriel is arrested and taken to be hanged and Martin's second eldest son, Thomas (Gregory Smith), is killed by the cold-hearted Col. Soon, however, the war moves to a field on the Martin farm. The scenery, in this movie, was amazing and the action scenes were very well choreographed. I think that there was also a different message that was being conveyed through the movie and that was that you have to stand up for yourself and what you believe in.
