Trading in America
The world of today has for the most part, grown into a large interdependent working unit. One country predominately producing oil can not consume that oil and conversely the country with vast land for agriculture can never utilize the land's potential without gas for its machinery. Trade then is a natural process creating synergy. The whole becomes greater than its individual parts. A reality then exists that the U.S. economy cannot enjoy a high standard of living by maintaining a self-sufficient position. Our economy will not expand if it does not encourage expansion through import and exports, as well as opportunities to open up to foreign investors. The challenge is to maintain a balance between imports and exports. Any country closing itself out to the opportunities in trade will disable their economy by prohibiting its ability to expand. This is especially true here in the U.S. One prime example of a traded commodity that bears great impact on our economy is oil. It is a vitally important part of any economy and is necessary for providing for a high standard of living. Oil serves an important purpose in the U.S. We must have oil in order to keep the millions of cars within the U.S. running. Oil is used for ev
If this doesn't happen, the only alternative is to buy from other countries. The importing and exporting of oil is absolutely necessary for the U. We produce more wheat than we could possibly consume and less oil than we desperately need. A more limited supply causes, prices go up. If we produce too much oil in a year, then the price will lower because of over supplying. Some parts of the world contain more oil than other parts and unfortunately America was not blessed with such an abundant source. If Alaska becomes a source for our Oil supply, it will run out in the near future and once again we will rely on trade to keep our standard of living at its peak. The social ramifications and adverse effects on our economy could be devastating. After that, there is no more left and our economy goes downhill. The reality exists that as a nation we have become very dependent upon the ease and convenience of modern technology, fast good, multiple televisions and a personal automobile. Kerry greatly opposes the plans of President Bush because he believes there is a better choice than to drill in Alaska. There are hundreds of different markets that are not dominant in the U. Contrast the two commodities of oil and food. In order for people to maintain the high standard of living that we enjoy in our western society, people must have access to an adequate amount of oil in the market. Our very lively hood and decent standard of living is based on it.
