Cloning

Human cloning is becoming a realistic possibility as time moves on. Scientists know that this study can be completed. On July 5, 1996, a sheep named Dolly was born in the Roslin Institute in Edinburgh, Scotland. Dolly was the first clone of a mammal from an adult cell. The birth of Dolly also introduced the birth of the possibility of another idea, the cloning of human beings. This gave rise to controversy and the question of whether cloning humans was right. Cloning is defined as scientist ability to use DNA technology to produce multiple, exact copies of a single gene or other segment of DNA to obtain enough material for further study. I believe cloning of humans could be helpful for medical benefits; otherwise I don't support the idea.
There are certain medical benefits to cloning. Through further research scientists will be able to replace damaged cells with new cells. Also scientist will be able to create human beings, who will be able to act as organ donors, this is not morally correct. Another controversial type of research is stem cell research which is the ability to grow human organs through the use of one cell. Cloning of that one cell can create organs for people who have been on an organ waiting list for years. Although this is an advantage to cloning, this process wouldn't have is much as and impact on society as cloning an entire human.
Finally couples that cannot conceive children will still be able to have children with their genes. By cloning damaged cells that are unable to replace themselves, treatments will be available for diseases such as Parkinson's disease, diabetes and muscular dystrophy. Research shows that there are several reasons that cloning can be beneficial. First people often want to clone someone they have lost for a reminder. Also they think that cloning could help better the human race. People have a strong desire to duplicate their own characteristics. They believe that it ...
