The Key
Wrestling is one of the most physically and mentally demanding sports in the world. Though I have not wrestled that long, I have quickly learned how much sacrifice must be made to have success. Practice is held everyday except for Sunday for three and half-hours. During these three hours we begin with running, then warm up, and then drill moves over and over again. Like the old saying goes, "Repetition is the Mother of learning." If you don't give 110% during every practice you will falter in a match. What you put in to it is what you get out. Now what I love about this sport, is the fact that if you win it's all on account of you and how you alone performed.
Afterwards, I go over it again and again until I know my game plan. I go over three moves that will make me the aggressor and write them down. For each move, I write down three possible counter moves, should the be able to counter my move. Since last year was my first year ever wrestling, I was greatly inexperienced. Besides, every time I lost, was only going to make it even better once I am victorious. You cannot know the heartache that is felt, when after you have trained for weeks, you step onto the mat and get pinned in the first period. Sure, I have wanted to give up plenty of times.
