Julia Caesar Supreme Power

Julius Caesar was born into a patrician family in Rome, but early on he opposed the rule of a small conservative group. His family belonged to the old nobility the patrician order and several of his ancestors had won distinction in the service of the state. Caesar was the most prominent man of all history; for this genius transcendent in three directions, in politics, war, and literature. Caesar's life was cast in a period with great changes for the Roman State. Both strength and security had given place to violent party strife, which threatened the existence of government in Rome. The city was crowded with turbulent throngs of poor citizens who received grain from the public treasury at a very low rate. Notwithstanding the risk and uncertainty, politics were thought the only field of activity as a young Roman man of standing. Caesar became a follower of Gaius Marius a great popular leader and Sulla the aristocratic dictator of Rome forced Caesar to leave Rome. Julia Caesar went to Greece to study philosophy but was later permitted to return to Rome where he was occupied a number of public offices. In 61 BC he became governor of a Spanish province. Rome, he allied himself with Pompey and crassus in the First Triumvirate and was elected consul in 59 BC. During his consulship among other measures Caesar caused a law to be passed regarding the division of the public lands, which though bitterly opposed by the Senate that pleased the people greatly. Accordingly, in 44 BC as assignation plot was hatched by a group of senators including Gaius Cassius and Marcus Junius Brutus. No matter how rapidly Caesar advanced he was always careful of keep up connection with his base of supplies. The main point of the campaign was to get high public and political acclaim, he wrote about all the campaigns and sent the books to Rome so people knew and remembered his name. Sadly, Caesar life was cut short by his assignation. On March 15 of that year, the conspirators entered the meeting with daggers concealed in their togas and struck Caesar at least 23 times as he stood at the base of Pompey's statue. In 58 BC Caesar began a number of military campaigns in Gaul (France), campaigns that established his military genius. During the next sixteen years Caesar followed the regular course of political promotion neglecting no means by which he might make himself popular. Caesar secured so many gladiators for public shows that the Senate became alarmed on account of the presence of so great an armed force, and passed a law restricting the number, but he nevertheless exhibited three hundred and twenty pairs, all resplendent in silver armor. After the Roman Senate instructed him in 49 BC to lay down his command, he crossed the Rubicon a stream that separated his provinces from Italy. The military of movements of Caesar, as of Napoleon, were characterized by an incredible swiftness of important points before the news was publicized he was on a mission. Returning to Rome in summer of 60 with abundant means of satisfying his creditors he was decreed a public thanksgiving for his victories and was soon elected consul in the year 59. Overall, Caesar was a brilliant military leader and led many campaigns which were the Helvetic Campaign 58 BC, Belgic Campaign 57 BC, Venetic Campaign 56 BC, German Campaign 55 BC, and the British Campaign 54 BC.
