Abortion: Choice or a Conseque
Abortion: A Choice or A Consequence?Who are we as a civilization, to force our own morals or beliefs onto pregnant women considering abortion? Is it our right to determine what someone can do with his or her own body? Aren't there enough neglected children in this world without parents? I believe the person or persons whom contributed to this sexual act, consensually or otherwise, should be the only ones to decide if they are mentally and physically capable of raising a child. If they find they are not, in the end it will be their decision.Beginning in the 1960's, erosion of some of the anti-abortion laws began to take place. However, more vocal groups trying to fix excess population growth did not support this. To them compulsory abstinence and birth control, was more palatable then voluntary abortion. Resulting in what was then and to this day legal chaos, which has been the situation with any reference to abortion, since it was first made illegal in this country. Contrary to popular belief, the legal ramifications against abortion are of comparatively recent origin. Until the early nineteenth century, at common law both in England and the United States of America, abortion before quickening was not illegal at all.
Don't health risks play some part?Another example would be Misty, a twenty-nine-year old woman extremely happy and content with her life. But I do believe that in some circumstances it is the best possible solution. There are many different views and opinions dealing with this extremely debatable topic. The conclusion? Misty has learned she's now with an unwanted child from a man who invaded her in the worst possible way. In conclusion, I do not feel as if abortion should be used as neither a contraceptive nor a birth-control method of choice. The worst part, she has now received news she is HIV positive. One day while she's walking her daily short route up to the second level of her local mall's car garage, a man grabs her from behind and throws her into his van. For seven long years she was repeatedly raped and molested. It's a life choice or better yet, a consequence. Is that fair? Should this poor woman have to go through this just because of someone's belief, when she could just have an abortion and truly live the rest of her short life in as much peace as possible? Hasn't she reaped enough as a result of an animal? These are two radical scenarios, however these sorts of crimes and unpleasant situations happen quite often. Who is the person that will have to nurture, love, and support this child? The Parent. The result? She just found out she's with child, without a job and in all actuality still a baby herself. He proceeds to savagely beat and rape her. When through using her, he allows her to return home, alive at best. Is it fair for her to go through the torment of carrying an incestuous child, nonetheless bonded to a man that has destroyed her life so much already? Not to mention losing grip of the few threads she has left of her short teenage life.
