An idea I have that just might work is shuttle buses. These shuttle buses would be owned by PSU and used for campus activities only (unlike public buses). This is a concept a lot of other campuses (PSU and otherwise) are using. Although most of the campuses that I've looked into that use this service are larger schools (Pittsburgh University, for example), some smaller schools are starting this as well (such as Bloomsburg University). As a small campus in a relatively small town we could make ver

For students that live on campus, a shuttle bus service would also be ideal. Now, if our school had there own line of buses this would be a problem because we would set the schedules, not the city. Gas money, cab fare, and even bus fare is tough to scrounge up at times, therefore making it extremely tough for students to make it on campus on time for class. This way, students don’t have to wait and they can avoid a dangerous situation and drivers don’t have to be driving all night for no reason. Certain pick up times, and places are set that aren't changes without notice. Shuttles that run late night have even cut the numbers of drunk drivers in college areas down. Another factor with public transit is bus schedules. Schools set up strict rules, guidelines and policies that are followed. Just because you have a class at a certain time, doesn’t always mean there is going to be a bus running to campus from where you are. Something as simple a shuttle services for on and off campus students can make a students, or a person interested in attending the university feel that PSU really does care about its students and could be a deciding factor when choosing to return or start attending. Let's face it, for those of us in college…we are pretty much broke. Also, the trails are in very bad condition making it even tougher.
