Frankenstein

In Frankenstein by Marry Shelly it is noticeable that Victor Frankenstein and the Monster have strong and weak points that give readers the impression that it is possible they are the same person, though they are not. A strong point that Victor and the Monster have is the ability to learn from others, this played a large part in these two characters lives. Victor Frankenstein's ability to learn from others allowed for the creation of his monster. It is learned in chapter 3 that Mr. Waldman had become an influence on Victor, and is the one who pushes him towards his goal of creating life from dead tissue. "I am happy to have gained a disciple: and if your application equals your ability, I have no doubt of your success." (1) Mr. Waldman had also taught Victor how to use his equipment, so Victor would be able to conduct his research. The Monster was then created but was not able to use his brain. He then had to learn how to speak, write, and survive since Victor had left him to die. The Monster stumbles across a family living in a cottage in Germany. Unlike Victors ability to learn from other's the Monster had to work much harder. " My days were spent in close attention, that I might more speedily master the language; and I may

I go; but remember, I shall be with you on your wedding-night. When Victor had stopped making the female the Monster swore that he would be with Victor on his wedding night. The Monster and Victor both had trouble with their emotions and were considered the weak points in their personalities. When the Monster had lost all the people that were close to his heart he also became emotional. " (2) The monster was a lot more eager to learn from others than Victor was, because the Monster wanted to find out what he was and he wanted to get revenge on Victor and with out the ability to read the Monster would never have found him. Victor did not have any need for revenge until the Monster had murder every one who was close to Victor's heart. "(3) Though Victor and the Monster had very strong points in the personalities they both had a weak point and in some cases would trigger their anger. The Monster's anger disappears and his emotions take over when he learns of Victor's death. Victor's loved ones had all died and this caused him to engage in revenge on the Monster. " He cried with sad and solemn enthusiasm, I shall die, and what I now feel be no longer felt. "(2) Victor's emotions eventually turned into acts of revenge near the end of the novel. " I was tempted to plunge into the silent lake, that the waters might close over me and my calamities forever. "(1) Once William had been killed the Monster framed Justine so she would look like the culprit who had murdered William, and would be killed for her crime. " Frankenstein! You belong then to my enemy -to him towards whom I have sworn eternal revenge; you shall be my first victim.
