The term literally means “split mind,” but the disease is not that of a split personality. There are many symptoms of schizophrenia. Symptoms, only some of which are present in any one individual, occur in thoughts, perceptions, feelings, movements, and interpersonal relationships. Persons suffering from this disorder may experience hallucinations. Dopamine is also another factor that is believed to have something to do with schizophrenia. Often it goes away if the use of the drug has stopped, but sometimes it does not. The person may have the wrong emotions where they would react
opposite to a situation than what would be expected. It is a
loss of motor control, especially in the face. Here they show withdrawal, and not much
emotion or motivation.
Schizophrenia is a chronic disorder. It is important that they receive both the therapy as well as the drug. The person may also be argumentative or violent. They tend to be very distracted and show not much of an attention span. Their behavior can be very unusual, too. They can produce stiffness, shakiness, or they may cause slowing up, fatigue, apathy, and weight gain. Catatonic is categorized by strange patterns of motor behavior.
