Franklin Delano Roosevelt (FDR) realized when he was in a wheel chair that he had some of the same qualities as other people in the United States. That quality was they need help just as he did. He needed help standing up at the podium to deliver speeches and the Americans needed help with the depression. They were the forgotten man. Roosevelt had the same feeling that the forgotten man had in that he needed help, but Roosevelt actually received help from people. So he thought that he would need to help the forgotten man. She helped in the campaign of FDR by traveling everywhere with him. He also passed the Federal Emergency Relief Act, Emergency Relief Administration, Home owner’s Refinancing Act, and the Home Owners’Loan Corporation. The New Deal caused such a opposition from conservatives because FDR put the country in a huge debt. The short term goals were aimed at relief and recovery. The Supreme Court didn’t like the New Deal because they thought it was their duties to restrain the socialist of FDR. She had great influence of the government through her speeches and columns in the Newspaper. He went from closing the banks to passing the Emergency banking Relief Act. The long term goals were for recovery and reform in departments that needed the corruption expelled. He helped out industry with the National Industrial Recovery Act, which brought about the National Recovery Administration, and the Public Works Administration. FDR got rid of the gold standard and put them in the United States Treasury. He realized when he needed the help of other people himself just to get around on a daily basis that these people would need help getting of their feet. He passed the Unemployment Relief Act and the Civilian Conservation Corps.

Roosevelt developed such a strong appeal for the forgotten man because they are the people that needed it the most.
