In Ancient Egypt there were very few things that provided the Egyptians with a variety of different resources. One of them was its pyramids. They served as protection for pharaohs, an act of faith, and they also showed the pharaohs how much respect the people had for them. Egyptians put many years of effort and hard work to construct the pyramids and they mattered so much to Ancient Egyptian society. Sphinx was built between 2575 and 2467 BC. Since the pyramids were built during the flood season, farmers were able to help out with construction of the pyramids. The human head is 66 feet above the base and it wears the royal headpiece. This pyramid took 20 years and around 100,000 men to construct. It stands 450-500 feet tall, which is 48 stories high. Building a pyramid was seen as an act of faith. This pyramid was built for King Khufu around 2600 BC. Ancient Egypt centered around its pyramids. 3 million stones in all and each stone weighed 5,000 pounds. The Egyptians relied on them to keep their pharaohs safe from many disasters. Without the pyramids of Ancient Egypt, Ancient Egyptian society would not have been the same as it was. The other pyramid is Sphinx which sits near the pyramid of the pharaoh, Khafre.
