Finally, money would be third in my list of bases of power. There is little chance of a tiny nation like Singapore becoming a super-power, capable of causing threat to the entire world. Having a unified nation supporting my actions would make my job so much easier as opposed to having protests and divisions in rank hindering my aim of taking the country to greater heights. With money I could buy every other base of power if need be. Finally, I would not use violence as a base of power because inflicting pain and suffering onto others would go against all my beliefs. Using religion to justify the killing of thousands during the Holy War between Muslims and Christians is just plain wrong and goes against the very principles of these religions, which is tolerance and goodwill to all. With this position, I would be able to assume authority, or the recognized right to control. As the French Revolution demonstrated, you can only subordinate people for so long before they rise up and return the favor in kind. And when he got caught cheating once again, this time with White House intern Monica Lewinsky, he managed to use his charm to get the public on his side, and in fact increased his popularity ratings. A charismatic person can get someone to like him and support him regardless of whether they agree with his actions or not. It is also a known fact that having a sizable population is essential to the nation’s chances of becoming a super-power. If two people want to have casual sex, we could argue that is morally wrong to commit adultery, but if both of them are consenting adults, then they have the freedom to do whatever they wish, so long as it does not cause anyone undue harm. With money, I could also attain violence as a base of power. An example of this would be former President Bill Clinton.
