Another crucial organization in giving kids an outlet is the YMCA. The “At-risk” youth are kids that come from one of the following situations: live in chronic poverty, go to a poor school, have poor school performance, are in a negative peer group, have poor social skills, use drugs or are with a guardian who does, is a minority, live in a bad neighborhood, or have stressful family situation. There are many other problems that these kids have with staying on track, but experts believe that there is no situation so bad that there can’t be a solution. These programs have funds and facilities to help them tackle these issues and they are trying their best. Mentors are very important to kids, whether it be their parents, teachers, relatives or just friends anyone can be a good role model and encourage kids to be successful.
