The Beatles
There have been more books published about one twentieth century icon than any other, this band that is said to have broken down barriers in all ways, is the Beatles. Their music was said to have driven that younger generation mad. Perhaps it was because they were one of the first bands to ever play real rock and roll music; or maybe it was those cute little pea coats they wore. Or maybe it was just because they were foreigners in the world of music, yet seemed to fit right in with the young people. Whatever the reason was, the Beatles were a band that shaped a generation and ones soon to come. The Beatles were “born” in Liverpool, England in the late nineteen fifties. John Lennon, inspired by a skiffle craze sweeping England, went out, bought a guitar, and started his own band, the Quarrymen. The members of this band changed frequently, but had a pretty solid line up by October of nineteen fifty-nine, consisting of Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and drummer Colin Hanton. In March of nineteen sixty, Lennon had one of his art school friends, Stuart Stucliffle join the band playing bass. Stuart suggested the name the “Beetles.” By summer, they were the “Silver Beetles,” and then finally deciding on the “Beatles” in Au . . .
Nineteen sixty-four was the absolute most important year of their careers. This would be the club that would make them famous. When Love Me Do was released it was backed by “P. Paul, Ringo, and George strictly avoided the media, and refused to talk about the break up. John Lennon only talked once, a year afterward. The breaking up of the Beatles was as significant as the assassination of a president, or the July nineteen sixty-nine United States moon landing. During the time of the Beatles popularity, most of these babies were teenagers and they wanted more freedom than their parents had been given. America was suffering with the loss of John F. The break up was extremely surprising. Luckily for the Beatles, the times were changing and McFall quickly changed the policy. During nineteen sixty-three they created a sensation in Britain. Being in right place at the right time seemed to favor the Beatles. During the "baby boom", more children were born in England than any other time in history. It was about this time that the rest of the band and their manager Brian Epstien, began to notice Pete's growing ego, and thought it would be best if he not be in the band. This was a transition period for the members in the band; they were going from being Liverpool locals to being English stars.
